Local Trust set up 150 Big Local Trust (BLT’s) areas around England to use at least £1m each to make a massive and lasting positive difference to their communities. All the Big Local Trusts bring together local talent, ambitions, skills and energy from individuals, groups and organisations who want to make their area an even better place to live and is run by local residents.
Volunteering with NWI BLT is for anyone living or working within Whitton, Whitehouse and Castle Hill, who is looking to fill some spare time, whether it be at a one off event through to helping out on an almost daily basis. In an ideal world we would love to have someone from every road within Whitehouse, Whitton and Castle Hill involved in some way. Everyone has something to offer, for instance you may have a particular interest in improving provision for the older residents in our community because of your own experiences, or the younger ones, or perhaps you are have a particular skill that you would like to offer. You may be interested in promoting good health, or helping to reach more people in the community. Whatever your interest there’s a sub group for you. You can volunteer with us from age 12 and we definitely don’t have a maximum age limit!
In line with our Community Plan we have sub groups that focus on:
- Young people
- Older people
- Business/Social Investment
- Publicity & Promotion
- Health & Wellbeing
Still not sure whether joining this project is for you? Please consider the benefits to you, then you can begin your journey into the world of volunteering with us where you will have fun, meet new people, learn new things and have new experiences.

If you are interested in volunteering in another project or with another organisation, you may find the following link useful: Volunteer Suffolk is a new volunteering database and website to advertise volunteering roles in Suffolk, helping local organisations to recruit volunteers.
Volunteer Suffolk launched in March 2017, and is run by Community Action Suffolk (CAS) on behalf of many agencies and organisations across the county. The new website aims to offer both organisations and potential volunteers a user-friendly service to access volunteering opportunities in Suffolk.
